An individual will experience repetitive intrusive thoughts and develop compulsions to prevent a terrible outcome. Often times there is no connection between the fear and developed compulsion. Often it is mistaken for superstitions. People who struggle with this type of OCD, feel an overwhelming sense of responsibility to stop harm from happening to themselves or someone else.

- I need to avoid brushing my teeth to prevent a life negative life changing event.
- I need to check my emails on odd days or I might lose my job.
- After having a negative thought or image, I need to have a positive one to cancel it out.
